Collection for Soup Kitchen

Parsippany Girl Scout Troop 657 is collecting items including toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, soap and shampoo for the Morris County Soup Kitchen. Drop off items at 839 S. Beverwyck Road, Parsippany, in the box outside the front door.

Tricky Tray

The Intervale School PTA will hold its fall tricky tray on Nov. 12 at the Hanover Manor in East Hanover. $40 includes four-course, sit-down dinner and one sheet of 26 first-level prize tickets. Pre-sale tickets only for age 18 or over. Compassionate Friends

The Compassionate Friends, a self-help group for bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents, will meet on Nov. 13 at in room 101 at St. Christopher’s Church, 1050 Littleton Rd. Soldiers’ and Veterans Benefit

On Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Earth Arts Gallery, located at 28 N. Beverwyck Rd. in Lake Hiawatha, invites guests to create a holiday greeting card for soldiers and veterans. A portion of gallery sales will be donated toward phone cards for the troops as well. Refreshments will be served. Can’t make Nov. 15? Caregivers Fair

Caregivers Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, Nov. 15, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy, 500 West Hanover Ave., Parsippany. Information and resources for those who care for loved ones of any age with issues of aging, disability or mental illness. Paper Shapers

Anyone interested in origami, the art of paper folding, can come to the next "Paper Shapers" meeting on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Parsippany P.A.L Building at 33 Baldwin Road.   Come for any length of time. Adults and children are welcome.  All children younger than 13 years must be accompanied by an adult. Bring a shoebox to hold finished items.  For information, call Deanna Kwan at 973-335-4531 or call the PAL at 973-335-0555.   

Used clothing collection

PHS Touchdown Club will conduct a used clothing collection on Saturday, Nov. 22, noon – 2 p.m., at the Parsippany High School Concession Stand.  Members are collecting wearable and usable clothing (men’s women’s and children), shoes, belts, handbags, linens and toys.  For more information, contact Maurice Saunders at msaund69@optonline.net

Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive on Nov. 25, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., at Morris County Firefighters and Police Training Academy, 500 West Hanover Ave., Parsippany.

Pancake Breakfast

Lake Parsippany Vol. Fire Co., District #3 Ladies Auxiliary’s sixth annual pancake breakfast will be held on Nov. 30, 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. Adults $6, seniors 60 years and over $4, children under 5 years old $4, children under 2 years old, free. The Lake Parsippany Firehouse is located at 255 Halsey Road.

Weichert Food Collection

Weichert Realtors is collecting food to be distributed by the Parsippany Food Bank to local families. Items need must be new, currently dated and unopened: canned goods including fruit, vegetables, meats, tuna, soup, stew, beans, pasta, rice, cereal, powdered/evaporated milk, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce, tea, coffee, condiments. Transplant Support Group

The Transplant Support Group of Greater Morris Area New Jersey meets the first Wednesday of the month. For the remainder of the year, meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. at Empire Diner, 1315 Route 46 East in Parsippany. Begin Again

Begin Again, a self-help support group for widows and widowers, offers discussion groups, exchange of ideas, dinner meetings, theater outings. It is not a bereavement group but rather the next step to resuming a productive lifestyle after the loss of a loved one. The group is non-denominational. Food Drive for animals

Shelter Helpers On Wheels (SHOW), a Parsippany-based nonprofit group, sponsors a drive for canned and dry dog and cat food. SHOW is expanding this collection to include birdseed (unopened bags). These items can be dropped off at Forest Lumber on Route 46 East, Mt. Lakes, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Monetary donations also accepted and can be mailed to: SHOW, P.O. Mommies group

Mothers Overcoming Medical Mental Illnesses Eternal Support (MOMMIES) is a mom's club for mothers who suffer with bipolar, clinical depression, compulsive disorders, etc.  Form a connection to other women through support meetings, play groups, ladies night out. Smocking Arts Guild

Stroller Fit

StrollerFit® Exercise with Your Baby program is rolling into Parsippany with a free class and $25 savings. This one-of-a-kind program shows moms how to turn strollers into portable fitness machines. Yoga and Pranaym

A free yoga and pranaym program (with free breakfast) for children, adults and older adults is being held on Fridays, 10-11 a.m. at Parsippany Library, 449 Halsey Road, through Dec. 26. This is something that everyone can do at any time and anywhere but it should be done regularly, every day.
