Masterwork Chorus to perform in Madison

The Masterwork Chorus, whose performances have been described as “a pure demonstration of vocal virtuosity,” will again grace the stage at Dorothy Young Center at Drew University in Madison, on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. Under the baton of Music Director Andrew Megill, the performance features both lively and moving a cappella and piano-accompanied songs from the German Romantic era composed by Schumann, Brahms, Bruckner, Mendelssohn,   Schubert, and Rheinberger.  Tickets are $35 if purchased in advance, $40 at the door, and $25 for students and seniors.  A lecture on German Romantic music and the importance of the pieces being performed is included in the ticket price.

To order, call 973-455-7008 or go www.masterwork.org.  Season tickets for the group’s three-concert season are also available.

The Masterwork Chorus, celebrated as a premier source of beautiful music in Morris County for many decades, is best known for its annual performances of Handel’s Messiah at Community Theatre (on Saturday Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. this year) and at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Music Director Megill, an associate professor at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, also serves as chorus master for Spoleto Festival USA, and associate conductor/director of choral activities at the Carmel Bach Festival.
