Bokhari’s flawless play leads

The reigning Morris County Tournament Champion, Sonia Bokhari did not lose a game or a set in first singles as she dominated her opponent in the North Jersey Section 2, Group 2 Semi-Finals. Bokhari swept Carly Agrifolio, 6-0, 6-0 en route to her teams 3-2 victory over West Essex on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Bokhari’s play has been phenomenal this year and she was the difference for her team in the match against West Essex.

Parsippany’s Phoebe Chou won a hard-fought, three set match against Megan Munoz of West Essex in second singles. Jessica Kabrt was able to defeat Parsippany’s Mimi Xu in two sets in third singles to get her team on the board.

In first doubles competition, West Essex took another win when Emily O’Neill and Blair Shulman knocked off the Red Hawks’ Krishna Desai and Rachel Day in two sets. In what was probably the best and most exciting match of the day, Parsippany’s Joanne Li and Justina Wong beat Linley Wang and Lacy Tau in a three sets to score the third win of the match for the Red Hawks. The score of the second doubles match, which could not have been much tighter, was 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

Parsippany improved their record to 13-2 with the win and advanced to the Sectional Final in the State Team Playoffs. Madison was the other winner in the semi-final round of the Section 2, Group 2 playoffs.
