H.S. Wrap-Up for Nov. 12

Girl’s Soccer
Morris Knolls High School and Parsippany Hills High School each had solid performances during the girl’s soccer regular season and were able to qualify for the playoffs in the NJSIAA North I section. Both squads were defeated recently in their opening round contests.

Knolls lost, 3-2 in overtime, to Livingston in their North I Group IV opening round game. Gianna Vitolo and Alyssa Meola were the goal scorers for the Golden Eagles in the second half to send the game into OT.

Toni DeMaio collected the lone goal for Hills in its 3-1 North I Group III opening round defeat to Paramus.

Field Hockey
Hayley Parisi tallied the game-winning goal in the second session of overtime as Montville upended High Point, 1-0, in the opening round of the North I Group III tournament.

Boy’s Soccer
Fardeem Shaiwany, Juan Lima and Andrew Rodriguez each posted goals in the second half as Parsippany toppled Garfield, 3-0, in the opening round of the North II Group II tournament. Ryan Daoud was the winning goalie.

Peter O’Rourke tallied the game’s only goal and Ethan Steible preserved the shutout in net as Mountain Lakes began play in the North I Group II tournament with a 1-0 victory over Wallkill Valley.

Dover, the no. 10 seed, was defeated, 2-0, by seventh seeded Chatham in the first round of the North II Group II tournament. Both goals were netted in the second half.

West Orange dealt Morris Knolls a 5-0 defeat in the first round of the North I Group IV playoffs. The victorious squad scored four goals in the first half. West Orange entered the field as no. 10 seed and Knolls was seeded seventh.

Football
Kevin McCann ran for two touchdowns, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter as Boonton topped Pingry, 14-6, in a Colonial Hills Conference meeting. The game was tied at 6-6 heading into the final stanza.

Greg Minardi threw a pair of touchdown passes as Parsippany Hills blanked Dover, 28-0, in an IHC contest. Adam Kudlacek had a pair of rushing TD’s in the winning effort.

Frank Trivigno tallied four touchdown runs, including one from 40 yards out as Morris Knolls dealt Columbia a 35-20 IHC loss. The Golden Eagles led, 14-0, at the half.

Vinny Lizza and Al Martello rushed for touchdowns for Montville in a 15-14 Northern Hills Conference loss to West Side. A touchdown followed by a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter gave West Side a one-point victory.

Azim Koliq caught a 95-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Moran for Morris Hills in a 24-13 IHC defeat to Mendham. The Scarlet Knights held a 7-3 half-time advantage before Mendham took the lead for good with 14 points in the third quarter.
